Lori tribes are among the oldest inhabitant of Persia. The Lors, like the Kurds, are one of the few surviving tribal groups who have lived in the same land since the earliest periods of Persian history. It is believed, however, that the Lors originated in Central Asia and migrated to Western Persia around 2000 BC, inhabiting the area we know today as Lorestan.
According to V. Minorsky, the Lors spilt into the Greater Lor and the Lesser Lor during the Mongol period. Since that time, the region of the Lesser Lor has been known as Lorestan. The Greater Lor further sub-divided into Bakhtiar and the kohgiluyeh at the beginning of the Safavid era. A considerable number of Lor have been absorbed into the Qashquai Confederacy particularly into Kashkuli, Darrehshuri and Amaleh taifeh.
This one is woven with good quality wool and is hard wearing as well as being decorative and beautiful. The design is very interesting and is a very primitive way of showing the tree of life pattern.
